Project Details
Hybrid materials based on nanoporous metal–hierarchy, mechanics and function (B02)
Subject Area
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term
from 2012 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 192346071
The research objectives of subproject B2 reflect the superordinate topics of Project Area B: Solids with nanoscale pores and with a hierarchical organization of their microstructure featuring several distinct length scales will b prepared. Their mechanical and functional behavior will be controlled by systematic structuring on each hierarchy level. Alloy corrosion will serve to prepare metallic network materials from nanoporous gold with 2 or 3 hierarchy levels and with macroscopic sample geometry. Their mechanical behavior will be investigated by experiments on the macro scale, and it will be described in the form of scaling laws. For demonstrating more application-oriented nanoporous metal, B2 will also prepare nanoporous Cu-Ni with an eye on developing a macroscopic actuation device.
