Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 187005812
Rotating turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection for the Prandtl number Pr~0.8 and the in-verse Rossby-number range 0.02 (kleiner-gleich)1/ Ro (kleiner-gleich) 20 will be studied by complementary efforts from experiment and direct numerical simulations (DNS). Using the gases He, N2 and SF6 at pres-sures up to 19 bar, we will achieve the Rayleigh-number range 109 (kleiner-gleich) Ra (kleiner-gleich)1015, while by means of DNS we will investigate in detail the internal flow structures for Ra up to 1011.
