Project Details
Plasma turbulence with an outer disturber: planet-induced stellar activity (A04)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2012 to 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 187005812
The project aims at the investigation of stellar turbulence in a controlled setup and by linking the aspects of stellar activity, stellar wind, and magnetic processes to the physics of star-planet systems. We propose to combine substantial observational and theoretical expertise in order to systematically investigate the occurrence of chromospheric emission in stars with and without planets by using HARPS and CARMENES dataset, and apply hybrid simulations based on the code AIKEF that cover the star and the planet as an interacting system to known planetary systems. The results from the simulations will be compared to observations in a statistically significant way.
