The focus of the research is to develop intelligent automation systems to physically assist the hu-man worker. Visual and haptic interaction interfaces are combined to create portable assistance robots which can collaborate with the human to support and qualify the user in work piece and tool handling. Additionally methods are researched which automatically select and tailor existing solu-tions ranging from fully manual to fully automated production for a given task in the context of local manufacturing conditions.
