Project Details
Graphyrins - Graphene-Porphyrin Hybrids (A02)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2012 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 182849149
Porphyrin and hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene will be used to construct graphene-like carbon networks (graphyrins). The five-membered rings will induce bowl-shaped structures with interesting electronic properties. The N-atoms and the chemistry involved with them cause modification of the electronic situation. Hexabenzocoronenes (HBCs) and expanded systems, including heterocycles – nanographenes (NGs) – will yield electronically, sterically, and conformationally modulated graphene models. Collaborations include photochemical and -physical studies, surface chemistry, mass spectrometry, theory, and device formation.
