Project Details
Macroscopic modeling, simulation, and optimization of the selective beam melting process (C03)
Subject Area
Metal-Cutting and Abrasive Manufacturing Engineering
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61375930
The aim of the sub-project is to extend the simulation tool for beam melting process of polymers (LSS-K), of metals (LSS-M) and electron beam melting (SEBM) from the first two funding periods to a hierarchical simulation environment in order to develop and qualify problem- and parts-adapted simulation strategies. This requires the application of reduced physical models, compensation strategies for error reduction and efficient algorithms, e. g. adaptive multi-rate time integrators. The process simulations (for parts up to 1000 cm3) will support the process control for the reproducible production of parts with defined properties.
