Subject Area

Project identifier

During the first funding period a new editing concept was developed making use of the systematic application of modes of digital analysis and display, while at the same time, preliminary editorial work was also done. In the second funding period the aim is to finalise the digital edition. The iconography that was included in or planned for most of the manuscripts is understood as forming an integral part of the material presence of the transmission, and attention to changes in iconography in individual witnesses is seen as analysis of reception practices. As for the text edition, which continues to be established by medievalists working from a pronounced interdisciplinary perspective, the main focus during the production and evaluation of graphically exact transcriptions will be on praxeological questions pertaining to writing, on analysis of phylogenetic transmission processes as well as on investigation into the relationship between concrete writings and their semantics. Based on that, a critical edition of the text will be produced.
