A specifically Italian tradition of manuscript production can be distinguished in 14th- and early 15th-century Western European manuscripts of polyphonic music, particularly with regard to the notation used. The aim of this sub-project is to uncover the history of the production of manuscripts of music from the Trecento period, spanning all repertoires and including the results of modern scientific material analysis, such as the recovery of lost music from fragments of manuscripts by multispectral imaging. The main focus of this project is on how these manuscripts were transformed by different institutions and addressees.
