We investigate four dimensional string theory vacua in view of their validity as unified description of particle physics and cosmology. Parameter scans of phenomenologically allowed regions will be performed, and their scope to accommodate the dark sector of the universe will be tested. The low-energy effective action will be developped further for so far not studied, phenomenologically relevant D-brane configurations, as well as beyond leading order and including instanton effects. Moduli stabilisation will be discussed in the context of new phenomenologically appealing string vacua. The string theory landscape will be constrained by identifying dual string vacua of phenomenological and cosmological interest.
