Project Details
Amino acid translocation to sink tissues and in organismic interactions (A08)
Subject Area
Plant Biochemistry and Biophysics
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170483403
We investigate long and short distance transport of amino acids in Arabidopsis, Lotus and barley. Our goal is to understand efficient transport of reduced nitrogen to optimise seed yield. To this end, we will characterise transport across the plasmamembrane and within the vasculature by an electrophysiological approach or the phenotypical analyses of mutant plants, respectively. We will also investigate amino acid transporters in symbiotic interactions in Lotus and transfer the knowledge we gained in Arabidopsis seeds to the supply of developing barley grains with amino acids.
