Project Details
Receptor kinase-mediated control of cell wall stress response (A02)
Subject Area
Plant Cell and Developmental Biology
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier

Plant cells are encased in a semi-rigid cell wall. Yield and yield stability depend on the detection of biochemical cell wall alterations, for example induced by pathogen attack, and the rapid induction of the respective defence response. We have recently discovered that signalling mediated by the Arabidopsis receptor kinase STRUBBELIG, previously only known for its role in tissue morphogenesis, is of central importance for the cell wall damage response. The proposal aims at elucidating the respective signal transduction pathway. In the future, the gained molecular knowledge may contribute to the improvement of crop plants.
