Project Details
Modeling and Simulation of Wetting of Component Surfaces (A01)
Subject Area
Technical Thermodynamics
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 172116086
Wetting of component surfaces is important in many applications of components and in their manufacturing. Microscale structures strongly influence wetting and can be used for controlling wetting. We develop models and methods for studies of static and dynamic wetting of component surfaces and related phenomena like adsorption with molecular simulations. In a scale-bridging approach, the molecular simulations are connected to phase field simulations of wetting. Additionally, experimental studies of wetting and cleaning of component surfaces are carried out.
