Project Details
Determination of temperature-dependent fracture and damage mechanical properties of ceramic filter materials from small scale specimen (C03)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
Subproject C03 deals with the development and application of combined test methods for the determination of fracture and damage mechanical properties of novel ceramic materials at test temperatures of up to 1600 °C. Experimental setups based on the Small Punch Test, miniaturized 4-point bending test with Chevron-notched specimens, and the Brazilian Disc test are to be geometrically adjusted in such a way that stably growing cracks and damage-mechanical process zones can be analyzed during the tests. Local strain and stress fields as well as stress intensity factors are then to be determined with the help of optical field measurements and the finite element method.
