Project Details
Velocity behavior – Fluid dynamics in composite filter structures (B02)
Subject Area
Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering
Term
from 2011 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 169148856
The subproject focusses on the characterization of melt flow and particle dynamics inside the complex filter structures by detailed numerical simulation at the pore scale. In the third phase, the influence of the filter coating on particle transport and filtration will be investigated along with the exploration of the potential of inertial clustering for an increased agglomeration of small inclusions. In addition, the effects of filter geometry and wetting properties on the infiltration behaviour for fine-pored structures will be studied. Furthermore, subproject B02 will provide the tools for hydrodynamic evaluation in the context of the virtual prototyping of novel filter structures.
