Term
from 2005 to 2009
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 19576802
The long-term and the overall objective of this project is as follows: (i) To start new projects on the design and development of specific Gyrotrons (T1: 4 MW at 140/170 GHz, T2: 100 W at 250/260 GHz andT3:50kWat24GHz), (ii) To acquire knowledge of need and application specific gyrotrons for Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) of plasma in futuristic fusion reactors for alternate energy sources, (iii) To build a strong research and collaborative man power and to create long lasting support for cooperative research efforts with research colleagues in the new institute and with former research collaborators in R&D, and finally (iv) To integrate more strongly into the existing research team at IHE University of Karlsruhe and IHM/FZK. The outcome of this work is directly linked to the ongoing Gyrotron research activities at IHE University of Karlsruhe and IHM/FZK and in India which is in the budding stage and will directly supplement, help, and cater the needs towards self-sustenance and indigenization.
