Project A4 investigates the impact of star formation on the parent molecular cloud in detail, by studying a sample of star forming molecular cloud complexes and individual sources in the Milky Way, where the high linear resolution allows separating the various contributing physical components and processes. Mapping in the submm and FIR of the two brightest cooling lines of the ISM, [CII] 158µm and [OI] 63µm, the rotational lines of CO and its isotopomeric species, as well as the neutral carbon fine structure lines, [CI] 609 and 370µm, allows to constrain the physical conditions and processes in the star forming clouds.
