Molecular and cellular regulation of JAK/STAT signaling (P08)

Project P8 explores the molecular and cellular determinants of cytokine receptor signaling by single molecule imaging techniques. In conjunction with molecular dynamics simulations, they developed a structural model of a homodimeric cytokine signaling complex at the plasma membrane that provides a generic blueprint of receptor activation by ligand-induced dimerization. They will focus on (i) verifying their molecular model of receptor activation by structural techniques, (ii) on identifying the determinants of signal propagation via signal transducers and activators of transcription (STATs), and (iii) the regulation of signaling activity and specificity by key molecular and cellular feedback mechanisms.
