A Theoretical Chemodynamical Model of the Milky Way Disk (A06)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy

We construct a realistic chemodynamical model of the Galaxy’s disk by combining semi-analytic techniques and ab-initio cosmological simulations. The first full astrometric data set DR2 of Gaia, supplemented by large spectroscopic surveys, allows a big leap forward in deriving the star formation history, the dynamical evolution, and the chemical enrichment of the stellar popu-lations over the full disk range. Based on high-resolution cosmological magneto-hydrodynamical simulations, we quantify the underlying physical processes like radial migration, feedback, gas inflows, satellite accretion, and derive stellar age patterns.
