Project Details
Observational Galactic Chemodynamics (A05)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 138713538
We continue to focus on the chemodynamical evolution of the Galactic disks. We will use variable stars with known ages as tracers of shape and time evolution of the age-dependent radial and vertical abundance gradients of the thin and thick disks, and field stars as well as star clus-ters as tracers of the disk-bulge-halo interface in the inner regions of the Milky Way. We will combine abundances from own spectroscopic follow-up with chemistry, kinematics, and 6-D phase space information from Gaia and advanced panoramic spectroscopic surveys like SDSS-V, which we plan to join through CRC funds.
