Project Details
Luminescence properties of isolated lanthanide and transition metal complexes (C07)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 142808194
This 3MET project investigates metal-metal interactions and functional cooperativity in photoluminescent heteronuclear lanthanide and transition metal complexes. It studies structure and coordination of the metal centers. It screens these complexes for visible to near infrared down conversion and for near infrared to visible up conversion, both of which are highly cooperative in nature. It correlates structure and luminescence, and it investigates the influence of environmental interactions on non-radiative transitions. It com-bines gas phase luminescence studies on mass-selected ions, measurements in solution and on crystals, and quantum-chemical calculations.
