Digital infrastructures for data acquisition, -filling and -dissemination have been created to improve the persistence, recyclability and sustainability of experimental research data (lnfoSys, Radischen, etc.). A present challenge for this digital infrastructure, before a wide acceptance and utilization can be achieved, is its usability and transferability. The abovementioned challenge is a central issue of this research proposal, building upon the experiences and the results of the lnfoSys project. Materials science, as weil as many other scientific fields, produces large quantities of research data from various experiments. So far the produced research data had been stored an stand-alone solutions with little to none standardization. In the context of the preceding lnfoSys project, a centralized infrastructure has been created, with which 90% of the produced research data including meta-data for metallic materials (steel), could be stored in a structured manner. Meanwhile, the developed system is being used an a daily basis and aims for user- and environment specific input (e.g. via a tablet solution) to improve the usability, efficiency, and simultaneously increase the on-site acceptance. The existing system will be optimized during the follow-up project AimData, as an exemplary digital infrastructure for research data, for research purposes, data mining, and dissemination of the experimental data. The emphasis here changes from the easy, custom and user-friendly input of the data, to their availability and later utilization by third parties. The to-be-developed add-ons should not only be used for the pilot-project, but also allow and support applications in general. The lnfoSys-System should be therefore extended by additional functions. Emphasis will be placed in particular an a highly developed search function and analyses tools, based on data mining and semantic linking. This will enable a future capability of proper data utilization of the now centrally and in a structured manner stored data. At the same time additional measures in the area of quality assurance of research data will be developed and implemented. In addition innovative methods will be developed, allowing users to rate the quality of the research data. Materials science data of fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) will also be added to ensure sufficient complexity and transferability, with all specific peculiarities of research data incl. meta data and test procedures.The structural expansion of the existing efficient, centrally organized research data infrastructure, to create a long-term value for users and funding sponsors, is essential to this project proposal. The scope should be at the same time extended by additional domains and checked for transferability.
