Project Details
Agglomeration of Nanosized Particles in Turbulent Flows (A08)
Subject Area
Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering
Term
from 2011 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 17546514
Agglomeration is an important growth process for a number of industrially relevant applications. In the second funding period, we determined the growth rates and the agglomerates' structure in dependence of characteristic quantities that primarily describe the changing influence of Brownian motion and advection on the clusters. In the next funding period, the agglomerates shall grow larger and resulting changes in size and structure will be analysed. Further growth will inevitably lead to (1) strong inhomogeneities in spatial cluster distribution and (2) their breakage.
