Project Details
Assembly, mapping, annotation and analysis of a moss (Physcomitrella patens) genome
Applicant
Professor Dr. Ralf Reski
Subject Area
Plant Genetics and Genomics
Term
from 2006 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 18837657
The true moss Physcomitrella patens is an evolutionary key link between aquatic, single-celled algae and multi-cellular vascular plants. Its haploid genome is currently being sequenced in the US as the first genome of a non-seed plant. As a member of an international consortium we want to participate in the assembly, mapping, annotation and functional analysis of the moss genome. For this purpose we will create a genetic linkage map and carry out comprehensive computational work on the assembly and annotation of the genome. This work will contribute to the better understanding of plant development at the genome level.
