Project Details
Tracking the emergence of attentional control in prefrontal cortex and hippocampus
Applicant
Dr. Daniel Kaping
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
from 2010 to 2012
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 188135668
The goal of the proposed project is to understand top-down neural control mechanisms of rule based Stimulus reward associations to tease apart the interplay of learning and attention. l will combine recordings from neurons in the cortex of awake monkeys performing reward adjusted attentional tasks. By employing multi-electrode techniques and by recording from prefrontal and hippocampal cortex simultaneously l aim to investigate (1) the dynamic interplay of learning attentional control, (2) the influences on not just single neurons but whole networks of neurons, and (3) the interaction and underlying synchronization between neurons in such a network.
