This project aims at the understanding of the angular distributions of photoelectrons emitted from simple metal clusters. Very recently we have demonstrated that characteristic angular distributions exist which depend on the angular momentum of the initial state of the emitted electron, but neither on the size nor on the material of the cluster. This seems to indicate that the observed angular distributions have a fundamental origin, and can be described by a universal law. In order to provide the foundation for such a theory the angular distributions of photoelectrons will be measured for a broad range of cluster sizes and cluster materials.
