The aim of the summer school is to create a meeting place fordoctoral students in different stages of their education and moreexperienced researchers. Students will have the opportunity topresent their theoretical framework, methods, researchquestions, and discuss analysis of data and results. Theprogramme includes work in groups, where students haveselected a theme to work around under the guidance of a moreexperienced researcher, discussion groups, lectures withincluded discussions, social events and an excursion. Someexperienced researchers in Didactics of Mathematics (fromdifferent countries) will be present and also give talks duringthe summer school. There will be opportunities for students tohave individual supervision from the senior researchers ifwanted. Each participant is invited to write a summary ofhis/her research project (3-6 pages) and will have the possibilityto present his/her ideas during the summer school.The University of Jyväskylä has a long tradition of offeringsummer schools in mathematics and now we can also offer asummer school in mathematics education alongside with thesummer schools in Mathematics. From similar summer schoolsheld by the European Association for Research in MathematicsEducation we know that such summer schools are veryrewarding, especially for doctoral students who have come farin their studies.
