Project Details
Röntgendiffraktometer
Subject Area
Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry
Term
Funded in 2010
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 183751891
The X-ray diffractometer will serve the groups of mineralogy, geology, and hydrogeology at the Institute of Geosciences in Jena. The instrument should replace an older model which is not able to provide high-quality diffraction data anymore. We foresee the use of the instrument in a wide range of research projects, ranging from crystallography of minerals and materials, thermodynamic studies of minerals, environmental mineralogy, mineralogy of soils, clay mineralogy and geology. The instrument will be used for phase identification and subsequent Rietveld refinement of selected structural parameters. In addition, the accessories for capillary measurements and data collection under controlled temperature and humidity will deliver data for structure refinement/ solution and phase transitions under variable environmental conditions.
