Central provision of organ transplant models and flow cytometry facilities
Final Report Abstract
The purpose of the Central Project was to provide infrastructural support to the KFO 243 research group participants in flow cytometry and microsurgery. During the first funding period of KFO 243, a common facility for flow cytometry was created and managed through the Central Project. Facilities for microsurgical procedures were expanded and techniques, including heterotopic heart transplantation in mice, were disseminated with the KFO 243 partners by training new technical assistants. In the 2nd funding period of KFO 243, the Central Project will maintain the flow cytometry and microsurgical facilities, and will extend the range of surgical procedures practiced. Existing expertise in orthotopic kidney transplantation in rats and a warm liver ischemia model will also be shared across the KFO 243 group.
