In order to predict the behavior of smart composite structures for practical applications in a reliable way both precise material parameters and efficient numerical simulation methods are indispensable. Because of this fact, subproject C06 deals with characterization methods (e. g. inverse method) enabling the identification of precise material parameters which is hardly possible with common techniques. Moreover, a simulation platform is developed allowing the numerical simulation of the entire system behavior, i. e. under additional consideration of control as well as evaluation electronics. Another focus of the subproject lies on the design of an appropriate test methodology for smart composite structures that can be utilized in large-scale production.
