Project Details
Memories of a stressful episode: A special role for olfactory cues? (B04)
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
from 2010 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 122679504
Stress influences cognitive processes, from the initial perception of a stimulus up to its storage and later retrieval from long-term memory. The investigation of memories for stressful episodes will be continued. In addition the interaction between stress and olfactory cues will be characterised. Moreover we will examine the impact of cortisol on the development and later application of categories. Lastly, we will test the modulation of sensory learning by stress. The project will lead to an enhanced mechanistic understanding of the effects of stress on the representation of sensory processes.
