Dynamical Systems from a noncommutative point of view (C01)

In this project we will use a vast range of operator algebraic methods to study various types of group actions and their associated operator algebras. We will investigate the structure of C*-algebras coming from topological dynamics and from coarse geometry, and to what extent they are classifiable. The long term goal is it to develop a systematic rigidity theory in this context. We will also study fixed point properties of group actions on Banach spaces, which are intimately related to (representation-theoretic) rigidity properties of the groups. These rigidity properties are naturally encoded in operator algebras associated with the groups.
