Project Details
Novel host modulatory factors of Helicobacter species (B06)
Subject Area
Medical Microbiology and Mycology, Hygiene, Molecular Infection Biology
Term
from 2010 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 158989968
Helicobacter pylori and related pathogenic bacteria use immuno-evasive and immunomodulatory strategies in order to subvert host signaling and the host response. Major bacterial factors are immune-evasive mechanisms and the Cag Type IV secretion system (CagT4SS) that is encoded on a pathogenicity island and directly targets human cells. We are addressing the role of bacterial immunomodulatory factors and their host targets with a focus on novel cagPAI-encoded and -transported effector molecules.
