Project Details
Metabolic interaction between Dinoroseobacter shibae and Thallasiosira rotula (C03)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606
The principle goal is the understanding of the metabolic interaction between D. shibae and the diatom Thalassiosira rotula. For this, a detailed analysis of the T. rotula metabolism under different environmental conditions is planned. Furthermore, we propose to apply stable-isotope assisted metabolomics and metabolic flux analysis to shed light on how a close interaction of these two organisms impacts cellular metabolism and homeostasis of each partner. We will address this question with a combined experimental and modelling approach based on the genome sequences of T. rotula and D. shibae.
