Project Details
Chemistry of secondary metabolite mediated interactions between bacteria of the Roseobacter group and other organisms (C02)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2010 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 34509606
This project will focus on interactions of roseobacters with other bacteria and algae and on the secondary metabolites involved in mediating these interactions. They include signaling compounds, their derivatives, siderophores and other compounds such as antibiotics and toxins, produced either by the roseobacters or the organisms they interact with. Important aspects of the work are structure elucidation and synthesis of candidate compounds to test effects of these compounds. A special focus is on the alga Prorocentrum minimum and its interaction with roseobacters.
