Synthesis Project 1: Biodiversity and ecosystem remote sensing

Subject Area Physical Geography
Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Cartography
Atmospheric Science
Term from 2010 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 107847609

The major objective of Syn1 is the spatially high resolution and explicit prediction of ecosystem composition and texture in the vicinity of all 60 investigation plots with a focus on plant and animal biodiversity, ecosystem processes and ecosystem functions. The identified proxies (e.g. selected hyperspectral indices, spectral functions and patterns or LiDAR derived structural signatures) will be analyzed with respect to their prediction quality and their plausibility. In this sense, the remote sensing derived information will add another explanatory perspective on the biodiversity and ecosystem functioning patterns and deepen the understanding of functional biodiversity in the study region.
