Extragalactic Planetary Nebulae (XPN) have recently become of interest for studies of stellarpopulations and chemical evolution in external galaxies. Next to supergiant stars, they offera unique possibility for spectroscopic studies of individual stars in nearby galaxies — in factthey present the only way to look into the chemical composition of low-intermediate massstars with present day instrumentation. Although XPN are relatively easy to detect in the[O III] A5007 emission line, the spectrophotometry of the fainter diagnostic lines is extremelydifRcult. We will use the unique capabilities of PMAS for a competitive spectrophotometricsurvey of faint background-limited XPN in the central kpc of M31.
