Project Details
Modification of silicon based nanowires by selective self-limiting surface reactions
Applicant
Professor Dr.-Ing. Steffen Strehle
Subject Area
Electronic Semiconductors, Components and Circuits, Integrated Systems, Sensor Technology, Theoretical Electrical Engineering
Term
from 2009 to 2012
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 139201940
The project focuses on suitable surface modifications of nanowires, which are required for device assembly and specific functionality. Within the first part of the project the extensive fabrication routines of nanowire devices were studied with emphasis to bio-sensor devices. Furthermore, a ptype Si / n-type TiO2 nanowire structure was created by means of ALD and used to sense the important neurotransmitter dopamine down to a concentration of 200 nM. The current research focuses on bio-sensor improvements by using surface modified nano-tubes, which offer versatile possibilities for enhanced bio-chemical sensing.
