Project Details
Environmental Response to Climate Events in the Levant, Near East and SE Europe during the last 200 ka based on Long Continental Records (B03)
Subject Area
Physical Geography
Term
from 2009 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 57444011
Project B3 focuses on reconstructing past climates and environmental changes in the “Eastern Trajectory”. Its particular aim is a better understanding of the impact of past climate events, e.g. Heinrich events on palaeoenvironments and their implications for human migrations in the study area. By integrating multiproxy data from various palaeoenvironmental archives a synoptic view of past climates (e.g. temperatures & precipitation) and environments (e.g. vegetation) at a resolution of 8-10ka will be modelled. In collaboration with B1, E6 and E7 those results will be correlated with past Homo sapiens presence in the region and migrations between Near East and SE-Europe.
