Subject Area

Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 125562105
Public collections in the United States of America possess a great number of Medieval and Early Modern (until 1600) manuscripts in German. A relevant number of these manuscripts are of major historical or philological importance. To date only a minor part of these manuscripts has been made accessible through printed and/or electronic catalogues. As a result these manuscripts have too often remained beyond the scope of scholars of German literature, history, and art. It is the aim of the present project to digitize ca. 65 German Medieval and Early Modern manuscripts in Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University and to establish detailed descriptions of these manuscripts according to the Guidelines ('Richtlinien') of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) (see http://www.manuscripta-mediaevalia.de/hs/kataloge/HSKRlCH.htm'). and to publish both digital copies and descriptions in the database 'Manuscripta Mediaevalia' (www.manuscnpta-mediaevalia.de) as well as in the local catalogue systems of Beinecke Library (webtext.library.yale.edu/finddocs/fadsear.htm and beinecke.library.yale.edu/dl_crosscollex/).
