Project Details
Analysis of horizontal loads in sheet-bulk metal forming and their consideration in simulation (B07)
Subject Area
Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term
from 2009 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 68237143
Sheet-bulk metal forming causes severe loadings in forming tools and high tool wear. The wear of locally high-stressed tool parts is expected to be reduced by means of oscillating movements ap-plied while forming. The oscillating movements are facilitated by the electromagnetic actuators build in phase two. The effect on tool-wear is to be proven in production trials. Additionally, the reduction of typically occurring, but undesired burr while upsetting is addressed. Sprouting burr shall be avoid-ed by means of the actuators performing horizontal movements to reduce the die gap temporary and recurring. The manual removal of burr in a subsequent process step could be omitted.
