In subproject B3, explicit and implicit interactions between users and companion-system are under study. Implicit variables are typically used to encounter user dispositions and moods. For the users, however, such implicit variables can turn into explicit ones as soon as a user assumes the companion-system to react towards respective expressions. There are several important research questions evoked by this, for example, how and to which extent implicit variables can be controlled by the user, and which effects this has on interacting with the companion-system. Respective questions are investigated adding further interaction modes, namely gaze and pupil information, both, for explicit and implicit interactions.
