Subproject A1 is concerned with research issues around the automated generation and explanation of plans of action. In the requested funding period, the user's perspective on these issues will be explored and integrated into a companion-system's planning components. To this end, we will investigate how a human's planning strategies are affected by his or her understanding of the situation while solving knowledge-rich problems in co-operation with a companion-system. As a result, a psychological model of the understanding of dynamic situations will accordingly be extended. It serves to guide the further development of the user-centered mixed-initiative planning approach as well as the development of new techniques for plan explanation and recognition in view of strategy changes and multiple user goals.
